Description:
Passiflora extract (Passion flower extract powder ) comes from the dried aerial parts of passion flower that grows on long perennial vines in the United States and Europe. With the scientific name Passiflora incarnate, the passion flower goes by many other names such as maypop, passiflora, flor de passion, apricot vine, and purple passion flower, to name a few.The flower got its name because of its resemblance to the crown of thorns, reminiscent of the passion of Christ.
Passiflora extract (Passiflora incarnata) was used in traditional remedies as a "calming" herb for anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and hysteria. During the early twentieth century, this herb was included in many over-the-counter sedatives and sleep aids.It is also used in German homeopathic medicine to treat pain, insomnia, and nervous restlessness.
